Hills Recreation Area
covers over 30,000 acres of the
area west of Lone Pine, California. Lone Pine is a small
town along Highway 395 that is a starting point for adventure
seekers that set out to climb Mt Whitney. The hills are
only a short drive from town and a worth while side trip
even if your just passing through town to Mammoth Lakes
or beyond.
Directions to the Alabama Hills from Lone Pine: take US
395 to the town of Lone Pine and turn east onto Whitney
Road. The visitors’ center, where there is information
and a map of the Alabama Hills Recreation Area, is located
a mile down the road. |
