Science Center is a great place to take
you kids plus admission to the permanent exhibition galleries
is free. There is a small charge for added attractions (High
Wire Bicycle, Motion-Based Simulator and Cliff Climb) but
a visit to the center is a very affordable for a family
or group.
When you enter the California Science Center, you'll step
inside Science Court with loads of hands-on exhibits. There
is even a bike you can ride across on a cable three stories
above the ground.
Science Court is made up of three special areas: Edgerton
Court on the first floor, Disney Science Court on the second
floor, and Mark Taper Sky Court, on the third floor. There's
a large rose garden out front and other museums are located
nearby. California Science Center is a wonderful family
day trip.
The California Science Center is open daily from 10 a.m.
to 5 p.m. except for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's
Day..The seven-story IMAX screen is the largest in Los Angeles
and shows nature and science related movies. The center
is located south of downtown Los Angeles in Exposition Park. |

NASA Administrator
General Charles Bolden announced, April 12, that the California
Science Center is one of four institutions chosen to receive
a Space Shuttle Orbiter for permanent display.
On October 11, 2011, NASA officially transferred
title of Space Shuttle Endeavour to the California Science
Center Foundation, making it the first institution to
take ownership of a shuttle. The transfer is the first
step toward the Science Center receiving Endeavour, which
is scheduled for delivery in the latter part of 2012.
Formerly known as the California Museum of
Science and Industry, the Museum was remodeled in 1998 as
the California Science Center.
Things to see include IMAX Theater, the Sketch Foundation
Gallery - Air and Space Exhibits (formerly Aerospace Hall)
and the Science Center itself - including the March 2010
opening of the Ecosystems exhibition wing.
