Carlsbad flower fields are easy to spot as you travel along the San Diego freeway. The fifty acres of flowers have been blooming in the hills above the pacific ocean for nearly fifty years. At one time the fields were out in the middle of nowhere, today development has surrounded the colorful display. Visitors can walk the fields or take an open-air tractor ride through the flowers. On site there is a gift shop provided by Armstrong Garden Centers, where you can shop and purchase Flower Fields brand products. The flower fields are getting more commercial , but the fields of flowers are situated on some of the most expensive land in Carlsbad. By charging admission and selling products the owners, All American Rose Gardens, can keep the Flower Fields blooming for years to come.
The flowers field are an impressive sight just driving by on the highway, if you get a chance take the time to walk through the flowers and enjoy the sights and smell of the flowers close up. Expect lots of people on the weekend so plan on getting to the flower fields early. If you are going to to Legoland, Carlsbad flower fields are a great way to start your day off. For more flowers you can drive down the coast nine miles to Quail Gardens in Encinitas. Enjoy one of the few remaining working farms along the coast of Southern California and have a fun day trip.
