Carlsbad
Flower Fields are easy to spot as you travel along the
San Diego freeway. The flowers have been blooming in the
hills above the pacific ocean for nearly fifty years. This
year the flower fields will be open for public viewing
from March 1 - May 13, 2012.
At one time the fields were out in the middle of nowhere,
today development has surrounded the colorful display.
Visitors are able walk the fields and get up close to
this colorful display of blooming flowers. The flower
fields do charge admission, but the fields are situated
on some of the most expensive land in Carlsbad.
By charging an entrance fee and selling products the owners
can insure that the Flower Fields bloom for many years
to come. Also involved with keeping the fields for flowers
only are The City of Carlsbad, The Carlsbad Agricultural
Improvement Fund and the California Coastal Conservancy.
Highlights of the Carlsbad Flower Fields include Miniature
Rose Garden, Sweet Pea Maze, the American Flag of Flowers
and a 1,500 square foot Poinsettia Display.
The Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch are only a few minutes
from Legoland and Sea Life Aquarium. Make your visit to
the flower fields an all day event by visiting Legoland.
Buy a one day hopper ticket and see both Legoland and

If you would like to see
the flower fields but don't want to spend eleven dollars
and fight for a parking spot there its very easy to do this.
In fact the view is almost as impressive as walking through
the fields. The pictures on this page were shot from this
vantage point which is popular with locals.
No entrance fee, plenty of parking and even some comfy benches
to sit on. Amada Drive runs directly behind the Carlsbad
Flower Fields and can be accessed from Palomar Airport Road
or via Cannon Road and Legoland Drive.
There is a paved sidewalk with plenty of free parking that
gives you a birds-eye view of the flower fields, Carlsbad
and the Pacific Ocean. This is a great place to enjoy the
flower fields for those on a tight budget or if your heading
into Legoland and want a quick peek at this wonderful Carlsbad
attraction.
The flowers field are an impressive sight just driving by
on the highway, if you get a chance take the time to walk
through the flowers and enjoy the sights and smell of the
flowers close up.
Expect lots of people on the weekend so plan on getting
to the flower fields early. If you are going to to Legoland,
Carlsbad flower fields are a great way to start your day
off.
For more flower viewing you can drive down the coast a few
miles to San
Diego Botanical Gardens in Encinitas.
