Central Coast Beach Camping

California's central coast is far less populated than Southern California. Camping along the central coast is an excellent way to save money while enjoying the beautiful scenery this are has to offer. A beach front hotel in Pismo Beach can cost you $200.00 dollars a night while a campsite at Pismo Beach State Park is only $25.00. Similar savings can be found all along the central coast from Oxnard all the way to San Francisco. Central coast campgrounds include both beach camping and nearby coastal camping areas.

Gaviota State Beach - Extensive hiking trails in the surrounding hills and valleys. Historic pier used for fishing and divers. Boat launch by hoist from pier. Last beach before Highway 1 turns inland for 40 miles.

Ocean Dune State Vehicular Recreation Area has 1,500 acres, featuring beach and sand dune riding. Thousands of off-highway vehicle enthusiasts enjoy the beach dunes of most weekends during the summer.
Montana de Oro State Park features over 8,000 acres of rugged cliffs, secluded sandy beaches, coastal plains, streams, canyons, and hills Naturalists and backpackers enjoy the solitude and freedom found along the park trails.
San Simeon State Park - Close to Hearst Castle. Enjoy the scenic beauty of the Pacific Ocean while camping at San Simeon Creek Campground. This tranquil getaway has many recreational options.
Morro Bay State Park features lagoon and natural bay habitat. The park has offers for sailing fishing, hiking, and bird watching. The park museum has exhibits that cover natural features and cultural history.
Sunset State Beach features pine trees, mountainous sand dunes, and ocean side picnic spots. Bordered by large agricultural fields between the cities of Santa Cruz and Monterey, the beach is a year-round destination.

Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park has 1,006 acres of redwoods, conifers, oaks, sycamores, cottonwoods, maples, alders and willows - plus open meadows. Park is bordered by redwood and oak forests,
California State Campgrounds - A - Z campgrounds. Deserts, mountains, lakes and parks. Choose your campsite and reserve up to seven months in advance.
Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park stretches from the Big Sur coastline into nearby 3,000-foot ridges. The park features redwood, tan oak, madrone, chaparral, and an 80-foot waterfall.
Manresa State Beach features a beautiful expanse of sea and sand, with surf fishing, clamming, and recreation.
Morro Strand State Beach - A three-mile coastal frontage park. From the beach, visitors can view the entire Estero Bay.
