Hollywood Christmas Parade 2014

The Hollywood Christmas Parade is the official start of the holiday season in Hollywood. The parade's 3.5-mile route follows Hollywood Boulevard and Sunset Boulevard and has many celebrities among its participants. This year marks the 80th year for the parade which is being held Sunday, December 1st, at 5:00 PM

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce started the parade in 1928 to boost shopping. Originally called the Santa Claus Lane Parade, the inaugural event featured only Santa Claus and the actress Jeanette Loff.

In 1946 Gene Autry rode his horse in the parade and was inspired by the children yelling "Here comes Santa Claus, Here comes Santa Claus," to write the song "Here Comes Santa Claus".

The parade will travel on a U-shaped route throughout Hollywood, CA starting at Orange Street and Hollywood Boulevard, traveling East onto Hollywood Boulevard turning South onto Vine Street, and then traveling West onto Sunset Boulevard back to Orange Street.
