Jalama Beach County Park
is one of the best places to experience beach camping
along the California coast. During the off season you
can have this wonderful beach all to yourself. Summer
time its a different story.
Campers line up early to get one of the 98 beach front
campsites which are all first come first serve. Even if
your not lucky enough to snag a campsite Jalama Beach
is a great place for a day trip. The coast along Jalama
Beach is unspoiled and looks much same as it did hundreds
of years ago.
Jalama Beach is located about 30 miles north of Santa
Barbara just south of Vandenberg Air Force Base. If you
happen to be camping when a satellite is being launched
from Vandenberg you will be treated to a spectacular view
as the rockets heads off into space.
All campsites overlook the Pacific Ocean and the wide
sandy beach below.
Even when the campground is full the beach is never crowded.
Sunset and sunrise at Jalama Beach are worth the wait
in line to get one of the campsites.
If your not lucky enough to be spend the night at Jalama,
this hidden beach is still worth visiting even if its
just for the day. |
