Laguna
Beach is a perfect place for a weekend getaway or day
trip. Visitors come from all over the world to enjoy this scenic
Southern California beach town. The surrounding mountains and
valleys have been inhabited for hundreds of years. In early times
Indians used the freshwater canyon lakes and named them Lagonas.
Once a sleepy art colony Laguna Beach has transformed into a major
destination with world class hotels and spas. Several famous art
fairs call Laguna Beach home including the the International
Art-A-Fair Festival, the Festival of Arts and The Sawdust festival.
Main Beach is the center of activity in this coastal community.
The lifeguard tower at main beach dates back to the 1930s and
is one of the first things you see when you enter town. Pacific
Coast Highway is lined with boutiques, art galleries, and restaurants
making Laguna Beach a great place to get out of the car and go
for a walking tour. Accommodations range from four star resorts
to moderately
priced motels. Once you enter town it seems like a whole different
world from the rest of Orange County. Parking can be a problem
during the summer but if you don't mind walking a few blocks there
is plenty of free street parking. Laguna Beach has changed little
over the years and is a delight to visit even if you only have
a day to do so. Another enchanted Southern California beach just
a few miles up the coast is Crystal
Cove State Beach.
