Mount Palomar Winery has about 310 acres and is located on a hilltop with breathtaking views of the entire Temecula valley. Mount Palomar's first vineyards were established in 1969 by founder John Poole. Today the winery is owned by Louidar Inc which continues the traditions of the winery. Plans include adding restaurants and a resort spa. Perhaps not what was intended by the original owner but wine is a big business in California these days. There is a guest center which has a selection of wine gifts and Taverna deli for sandwiches and green salads. Only food and beverages purchased at Mount Palomar Winery are permitted on the premises so this is not the place for a Sunday picnic.
