Beach Municipal Pier was built in 1940 to replace the
damaged McFadden Wharf. Newport Beach has a second pier
about two miles south along the peninsular, Balboa Pier.
Newport Pier is a popular summer destination and the limited
parking spaces fill up fast. Dory fishing boats depart
each morning from the pier and return to sell their catch
at the fish market next to the pier. Fishing from the
pier is allowed and no fishing licence is essay as long
as you stay on the pier. Fish from the beach and you need
a licence. |
