San Elijo State Beach Campground

San Elijo State Beach is in Northern San Diego County. The campground is divided into two sections, North and South. About half of the 170 campsites have uninterrupted views of the Pacific Ocean. Camping at San Elijo can be best described as above beach.

Access to the beach is by wooden stair cases which drop you directly on the beach from the campground. Being situated on the bluff does have its benefits if there happens to be a Tsunami it would need to be at least 100 feet high before you get wet.

Some of the non ocean campsites back up to Highway 101 and you will get some road noise. San Elijo State Beach store has a snack shop which has a fantastic view of the beach below.

Campsite assignments are made upon your arrival unless you reserve a specific site. Peak season reservations are a must but after the busy summer you should not have a problems getting a camp site. The beach offers day use as well as camping up to 30 days. Nearby towns are Cardiff-by-the-Sea and Encinitas with it's famous Moonlight Beach.

San Elijo is a great location along the Southern California coast where swimming, surfing, camping and picnicking are just a few of the activities you can enjoy. During the summer camp-sites fill up fast. You can reserve a site up to seven months in advance.

San Elijo Beach State Beach campsites 145 through 171 all are on the ocean view and in the north section of the park. South end sites 1 through 43 and sites 47, 49, 51, 54 and 56 are are also on the ocean side of the park.

All other campsites do not have views with many of them backing up to Highway 101. San Elijo campsites numbers 4, 26, 58, 92, 143 and 164 are handicap accessible. The usual rules apply here including Non-registered guests must exit by 10 p.m.
, Two vehicles maximum.

Only one RV, trailer, tent trailer, van per site and Dogs must be kept on a leash no longer than six feet and under physical control at all times.

Nearby attractions include Legoland which is about seven miles away and Seaworld which is 18 miles. The main attraction here is of course the beach and the beach view campsites.

Once nice feature pet owners love is
San Elijo Beach State Beach allows dogs provided that you have it on a leash at all times and you clean up after them.

he town Cardiff-by-the-Sea is minutes away with stores and restaurants. Head South to Del Mar Beach or head north to Encinitas. There is no shortage of things to do within minutes of San Elijo Beach State Beach campground.
