San Luis
Obispo is a quiet little college town where students,
residents, and tourists mingle in the many coffee shops
and shopping districts as they soak in the sun. There
is much more to do and see here than what can be listed.
San Luis, or SLO, is home to the Cal Poly University where
thousands of students of all ages receive a renowned education.
San Luis is one of California’s oldest, founded
in 1772. The rich history dates back to the earliest settlers
when the Chumash Indians were freely roaming and farming
these lands. When the Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa
was founded in 1772 by Father Junipero Serra, the town
began to be used for more and more.
With the building of the Pacific Coast Railway, Chinese
workers were bought to labor long hours. Chinatown had
been started. Palm St. and Chorro still have many Chinese
authentic establishments and a real Chinatown plan is
in the works for the city.
The city is now the county seat for San Luis County. Nestled
among the hills, just south of Paso Robles, Atascadero,
and north of Pismo Beach,
the city is halfway between San Francisco and Los Angeles.
The people of the area are very dedicated to keeping their
city clean with regulations for smoking and smog. Downtown
is filled with shopping ranging from furniture to clothes
to a wide variety of foods.

there is free concerts in the plaza. Also every Friday evening
is the local Art After Dark event. Art galleries downtown
host open houses with surprise guests, exhibits, and treats
for the public.

Castle, Mr. Hearst built this beautiful mansion high on
a hill that can be seen for miles. The tours take you through
hundreds of nooks and crannies, magnificent hallways, and
views that will take your breath away. And if you visit
