After 25
years, the Irvine Company ended the lease with Wild Rivers
water park on 9/25/11. Plans are to build 1,750 apartment
units at the site. Wild Rivers is trying to set up a deal
with the county to rent land on the edge of the Great
Park and reopen in 2013.
Wild Rivers Irvine is one of the largest water parks in
Southern California with over 40 water rides and attractions.
There are two huge wave pools plus areas for both kids
and adults. Discount tickets for wild rivers include season
passes, group discounts (15 or more with, book at least
one week in advance). family season passes and evening
admission (after 4 pm).
Several times during the summer season Wild Rivers offers
coupons for up to five dollars off. Daytrippen has print
at home tickets that are three dollars off gate price.
Los
Angeles and San
Diego Go Cards both include admission to Wile Rivers
Water Park. Visitors with a height less than 48 inches
save $10.00 (they do check height for the discount). Finally
there are several online coupons that will save a buck
or two.
Water slides and attractions at Wild Rivers include Wild
Rivers Mountain, Thunder Cove, two wave-action pools for
swimming, tubing, bodysurfing and bodyboarding. Wild Rivers
also offers private Cabana rentals. Each Cabana features

Wild Rivers Water park |
Wild Rivers days at its
present location are numbered The city of Irvine has plans
to build about 4,000 homes on the site of the amphitheater
and water park. With the threat of being ousted the water
park has not added any new rides or attractions in several
years. There is some good news for the water park, there
may be room for it to be relocated to the Irvine Great Park.
If Wild Rivers makes the move it will rebuild with all new
rides and attractions. In the mean time Wild Rivers is on
a two year lease and may even end up staying at its present
location until the housing market recovers.
Wild Rivers may not be the biggest or newest Southern California
water park buts its defiantly one of the most fun. With
numerous discount tickets options Wild Rivers is a perfect
place for affordable family fun. |
